25-year-old Bollywood actress Jiah Khan has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her Sagar Tarang apartment in Juhu, Mumbai on Monday night, as per the police.
Jiah Khan’s body has been shifted to the Cooper Hospital in Juhu. Mumbai Police are currently investigating the reason behind her death and have searched her residence and questioned her housemaid, neighbours and security guards in the building. Police sources said the death happened at around 11 p.m., but no suicide note has been found. Sources close to the actress also revealed that Jiah Khan had been depressed for some time due to some personal issues.
Jiah Khan rose to fame in her 2007 debut movie Nishabd in which she starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma got her the Filmfare Best Debutant nomination.
In 2008, Jiah Khan acted in the hit movie Ghajini with Aamir Khan and Asin. Her last role was in 2010 in Sajid Khan’s movie Housefull starring Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone and Lara Dutta.
Jiah Khan’s original name was Nafisa and she is the daughter of actress Rabiya Amin, an actress in the 1980’s who acted in the movie Dulha Bikta Hai.
Bollywood celebrities have expressed their shock at the news of her death. Actress Dia Mirza was the first to report Jiah Khan’s death on Twitter at about 1.45 a.m.
